The authorities seized assets worth crores of rupees, including a farmhouse, during the raid. The move comes amid a bitter power struggle between the ruling Shiv Sena and its former ally, the BJP, which has left the state politics in a turmoil.

Maharashtra police's joint commissioner of police, Vikram Deshmukh confirmed the raid, stating that it was conducted in accordance with a court warrant. "We received a court warrant to search the MLA's house and other properties linked to him in connection with a cheating and forgery case," said Deshmukh, who added that the operation was ongoing and the seizures would be valued once it remarked.

The raid comes amidst a long-standing rivalry between the parties, which has escalated in the past few days. Both sides have traded barbs, with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis terming the Shiv Sena as ' traitors' while NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar indicated that Fadnavis was indulging in politics of jumla.

The aftermath of this developmetn led the opposition NCP to complain to the State Election Commission, regarding alleged irregularities in the nominations made by the BJP. Chargesheet Filed Against Senior IPS Officer for Alleged Disproportionate Assets.

A chargesheet was filed against senior IPS officer Basant Rath in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets case. Rath, 1991 batch IPS officer posted in CBI, is accused of maintaining assets worth over 1.5 crore, which does not match his known income. CID-CI's Special Investigation Team, financial investigation wing gave the chargesheet to the court.
